PRO POWER ONBOARD
Let’s talk about the Available Pro Power Onboard which supplies upto 7.2 kW of power from an onboard generator to outlets mounted on the inside of the truck bed, as well as in-cabin plugs. Tools on the jobsite, lights when camping, tailgating accoutrements, and more will run on the power provided by the truck.
How exactly does it work? Pro Power OnBoard basically transforms your truck into a generator with a 35kW electric motor utilizes regenerative braking capture and works with the engine to charge a 1.5kW-hr lithium-ion battery. Pro Power On Board then provides a 2.4kW or 7.2kW inverter that converts direct current from the battery to standard alternating current that’s used for power tools, lights, camping, etc.
Okay, enough of the technical mumbo jumbo. What does this mean for you?
There are three options for Pro Power OnBoard:
- 2 kW inverter that delivers 110v
- Works with gasoline engines
- Includes upto 4 standard outlets
- 2.4 kW inverter that delivers 20 amps of 110v electricity
- Works with the hybrid engine
- Includes up to 4 standard outlets
- 85 hour runtime on a tank of gas
- 7.2kw inverter delivers 30 amps of 240v
- Works with the hybrid engine
- Includes upto 4 standard outlets and a 240v outlet
- 35 hour run-time on a tank of gas
Pro Power OnBoard works when you’re parked and while you’re driving: you can charge your tools as you head over to the next job. Initially, ProPower OnBoard will use the energy stored in the battery until that’s depleted, then the truck will turn on to start powering the generator. If there is a large draw on power, the truck engine will rev to increase RPMs and meet the demand. The truck will continue to idle and provide power to outlets as long as the truck has gas—anywhere between 35 and 85 hours.
If you're a camper, Pro Power OnBoard will power your camping trailer. Leave the portable generator at home and let F-150 power your fridge, freezer, microwave, AC unit, cell phones, and everything else that makes for a successful weekend in the mountains. Use the FordPass app to monitor and control the load on each circuit, or to control from afar. It also provides security so you don't need to worry about someone driving off with your new truck, even when on generator mode.
Whether you’re on the jobsite, camping, or DIY-ing it at home, Pro Power OnBoard is a new level of convenience to get it done.
(Early pricing for the Pro Power Onboard option ranges from $750 to $995, depending on the trim).
