New for 2021

Ford is brightening things up a little this year with LED Box Lighting w/ Zone Lighting. Forget the flashlights — LED Box Lighting shows you everything you have in the truck bed while Zone Lighting illuminates areas surrounding the perimeter of the truck. You can adjust which zones you prefer to be lighted from inside the truck or with the FordPass app on your phone. This feature comes optional on XLT, and standard on XLT High package, Lariat, King Ranch® and Platinum.

The new F-150 makes work easier with its new Power Tailgate (Tailgate Step and Tailgate Work Surface). We’ll talk more about this later, but we think it’s a pretty exciting addition to this year’s model. We only wish that it came standard on more trim levels than the King Ranch® High trim and Limited. You can get the Power Tailgate as an option on the Lariat, King Ranch® Base model, and Platinum Base, but if you’re looking at an XL or XLT you’re out of luck.

This year you can keep everything safe and easily accessible with an available RetractableTonneau Pickup Box Cover.

Styling, Configurations, & Customization

Every exterior body panel on the 2021 F-150 has been re-examined and re-designed to make what Ford calls the most aerodynamic F-150 ever created. With the wheels pulled out almost an inch, a more pronounced beltline, a bolder face, and larger wheel arches, this truck boasts a sleeker and more muscular look than the previous generation. Both headlights and taillights now carry Ford’s distinct “C-clamp” design as well.

Make this truck your own with 11 different grilles and 13 different wheel options. Take advantage of features like the available Kick Switch Activated Power Running Boards that go along the side of the truck and automatically lowers as you approach with the key in your pocket. Don’t have your key? Just throw a foot out and kick the switch to activate it. Don’t forget the LED headlights, LED fog lights, and LED daytime running lights. The future is bright!

New Ford F-150

Ford is taking the F-150’s interior to a new level this year: interior features have been upgraded, premium materials line the cabin, and more storage has been interspersed all around, like a double glove box and fold-flat, lockable storage under the rear bench seat.

If your truck often doubles as your office, you’ll appreciate some of the F-150’s latest innovative features. Life just got a whole lot easier with the available Interior Work Surface. Push a button and the shift lever folds flat, allowing the center console to fold forward and become a large flat work surface. It’s the perfect size to handle a laptop, paperwork, lunch, or any of the stuff you need to get the job done. The best part is, you’ll find this feature on every trim level.

The console isn’t the only thing that folds flat. Ford’s new Max Recline Seating offers the perfect place for a power nap. Just put the truck in park, fold up the rear seats, and recline the front seat all the way back to lie flat. If you’re a camper, road tripper, or simple nap enthusiast, make sure to get the King Ranch trim or higher to take advantage of a bed that goes everywhere you do. Take note, this feature won’t be available at launch, so you’ll have to exercise a little patience.

Inside the 2021 F-150 you’ll find some unique details that set this truck apart. All-new rectangle air vents, an updated HVAC interface, a new steering wheel, and unique accents (including an American flag detail on the sides of the dash). A wireless charging station and 8 or 12 inch screen (depending on which you choose) are included, and you can opt for one of two audio upgrades to the tune of 8 or 18 B&O speakers, both with HD radio.

Active Park Assist will help you park in those tight spots, whether perpendicular or parallel. Simply put your truck in neutral, push the button, and your truck will guide itself safely into the parking space using a 360 degree camera to monitor its surroundings.

Active Drive Assist is probably Ford’s most advanced feature to date, allowing the driver to drive hands-free on over 100,000 miles of highway. This system uses a camera to monitor the driver’s eyes to ensure awareness while going hands-free. Although not available until the third quarter of 2021, you can still order the prep kit so your truck will be ready as soon as this feature is released.

OTHER COOL FEATURES

INFOTAINMENT AND CONNECTIVITY

SYNC 4 is the software that runs Ford’s latest infotainment technology. It’s displayed on a standard 8 inch or optional 12 inch touchscreen, designed to respond even when wearing work gloves. SYNC 4 comes standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 4G LTE modem that provides wifi access for up to 10 devices. Wireless connection allows you to control your phone’s screen from the vehicle’s touchscreen and conversational voice recognition allows you to interact with SYNC 4 naturally, while remaining in control of the vehicle. Send texts, make calls, or ask for directions from the available Cloud-Based Navigation at any time.

Since SYNC 4 provides for cloud-based connectivity, every Ford F-150 will get over-the-air updates: gone are the days when you had to take your truck into the dealership. Updates will be made seamlessly and instantaneously as-needed, without ever disrupting the driver. Cloud-based connectivity also allows for real-time traffic, weather updates and onboard telematics for fleet customers to help track vehicle location and usage.

Every new Ford F-150 will have the capability to connect your phone to your vehicle . Start/stop, lock/unlock, check your vehicle’s stats for oil, fuel, mileage, maintenance, or even create a start schedule for your truck, all through the app.

Although Ford hasn’t released the new F-150’s towing payload capacities, they do say that the new hybrid engine will be able to tow approximately 12,000 lbs. Other than that, we expect numbers to be similar to 2020 models, which maxes out towing 13,200 lbs and carrying a payload of 3,200 lbs when properly equipped.
